The Yule goat is a Scandinavian tradition, particularly prominent in Sweden, where large goats are constructed from straw during the Christmas season. The custom may have originated as a tribute to the Norse god Thor, who was said to ride in a chariot pulled by goats. In modern Swedish culture, the Yule goat is also considered a companion or counterpart to Santa Claus.
