Heuristica is an online mind map maker that uses AI to generate, expand, and organize mind maps. You can build a mind map from any topic, from a YouTube video, PDF, or podcast already saved in your library, or from a blank canvas you grow by expanding nodes with AI.

You have two main paths. Open any resource in your library (a saved YouTube video, PDF, podcast, article, or study deck) and pick Create Mind Map from the sidebar to turn it into a hierarchical tree. Or open a blank mind map, type a central topic, and use Expand with AI to grow the branches.

You can generate a mind map from a topic you type into a blank canvas, or from any resource already saved in your Heuristica library, including YouTube videos, PDFs, podcasts, articles, and study decks. Save the source first, then open it and pick Create Mind Map.

Right-click any node and choose Expand. You can pick the kind of expansion you want: Topics adds related subtopics, Ideas brings fresh angles on the subject, and Questions surfaces things worth exploring further. The AI reads the node and its context inside the map before it adds the new branches. Run an expansion on the root node for a broader look at the whole subject.

Export is not available yet but it is on the roadmap. You will soon be able to export a mind map as an image or as markdown, and import markdown from other mind map tools into Heuristica.

Yes. Select a single node or the full map and generate flashcards or a quiz from it without leaving the editor. The new deck is saved to your library and linked back to the mind map, so you can study the same content you just mapped out. You can also keep expanding the map with AI or edit it in outline mode.

Mind maps are generated exclusively with Google Gemini, which gives the best results for the structured, hierarchical output a mind map needs.

Yes. You can generate mind maps in more than 20 languages. Set your preferred language and the nodes, AI expansions, and follow-up suggestions all come back in that language, so the map matches the language you are studying in.
